Friday I read you a true story from my own life about fire ants. To refresh your memory... the book was called Mr. Kenny and the Fire Ants. I lived in Georgia where there were fire ants that would build mounds 12-18 inches high. One day my brother and dad went to catch turtles, lizards and snakes. They went to catch them at the pond, or the what they called the "mud hole," with Mr. Kenny and Stephen. My brother, Bo, fell in the mud and got stuck. While attempting to pull Bo out of the mud, my dad fell backwards right on top of a fire ant mound. The ants started crawing down dad's back. Mr. Kenny started brushing the ants off of dad, he said he wouldn't have to brush below the belt line because he was pretty sure they couldn't survive down there. Bo didn't know if that was true or not, but by the way Mr. Kenny and dad laughed he was pretty sure it was. With all the laughter all the animals went into hiding.
Your job: I want you to make a connection to my story or one of the other stories your classmates wrote in the comments before yours. Be sure to read the stories other people wrote in the comments before you. You are going to make a connection by writing about a time something funny happened in your life, or someone in your family's life. Remember to make your story at least 4-5 sentences long. I can't wait to read it!
