I know that my great-great-grandfather and great-great-grandmother on my Dad's side came from Scotland. And my great-great-grandfather and great-great-grandmother on my Mom's side came from Ireland. So my ancestry is Scotch-Irish. I guess that works out well for Saint Patrick's Day! What are you? Please ask your parents where you came from and then write a paragraph explaining where your family came from.
An ancestor is a parent or the parent of a parent (for example a grandparent, great-grandparent, great-great-grandparent, and so forth). You probably know who your grandparents are, but do you know who your great-grandparents are? Or even your great-great-grandparents? Do you know what country your ancestors are from?

You're going to have to think for this post. In all your 7 or 8 years of life, what is the most FUN you have ever had? It can be at home, on vacation, at school, with your family, at a birthday party, a fun day your parents planned, etc. What made it so fun for you?
Spring will be here soon. March 20th is the first day of spring. If you will remember, I told you that you can get a free Rita's Italian Ice on March 20th.
What are your top 3 things that you love most about spring? Kindness is considering other people in the way you think, speak, and act. There is a name for deciding to go out of your way to be kind to others. And it's called random acts of kindness. Random acts of kindness could be emptying the dishwasher without being asked, making a blanket for a new baby, or helping to feed homeless people. It could be carrying groceries for someone who is older, or giving a flower to someone. There is a website that gives many ideas for ways to show kindness:
http://www.randomactsofkindness.org/Kindness-Ideas/Browse/ I want you to do a random act of kindness (your own idea or one you read about) and then write what you did. How did it make you feel? How did it make the other person feel? How do you know? Dear Class,
Welcome back from your President's Day Break! If you think back to our science learning prior to our mini vacation, you’ll remember we talked about the water cycle and how it is related to weather. We discussed different types of severe weather which can quite often be dangerous. This includes tornadoes, hurricanes, hail, and flash floods (floods that occur very quickly). In your opinion, which type of dangerous weather do you believe is the most harmful? Please explain your answers in a WELL CONSTRUCTED PARAGRAPH (topic sentence, three detail sentences about the topic, and a wrap-up sentence). I look forward to your responses. Happy Blogging, Miss Miller Pick a number 1 through 5. Do you have your number? Good! Now look at the list of questions numbered 1 through 5. Answer the question that is next to the number you picked. If you do not like your question, then pick another one. Have fun!
1. What did you do for Valentine's Day this year? What was the best Valentine's Day? What made it special? 2. What are you going to do during your time away from school this week? If you could pick, what would you choose to do? 3. Design a new sport. How many players would there be? What would the you do to play the game? Would there be equipment or balls that you need? 4. If you could make your own website, what would you put on it? Why? 5. Pretend you are 15 and you need a summer job. Pick one of the following jobs and tell why you chose the job. Job choices: Lifeguard, working the cash register at the grocery store, paperboy, Ritas or Dairy Queen serving ice cream, or a waiter/waitress at a restuarant. If you could have a school anywhere where would you put it? And why?
If we could keep the classroom anyway YOU wanted, how would it look?
We have gotten oodles of snow so far this winter. In places like New York City and Boston, they have received more snow than ever before! Five of the six snow storms this year have had "thunder snow." This normally happens once every 10 years! Thunder snow is when there is lightning and thunder while it's snowing. Pretty cool!
What have you done during your "Snow Days" and time in the snow? Tell me about it. Did you build a snowman, a snow fort, or have a snowball fight? Feel free to e-mail me pictures of your fun in the snow. Sarah e-mailed me some of her snowman last night, and they were great! I would love to share your pictures with the class (but only if you want me to). You can e-mail them to me at [email protected] or [email protected]. I know you enjoyed the knock knock jokes, so we are going to do something similar. Please write a joke. It can be any kind of a joke. Have fun! And you are always welcome to write more than one.
