What is the most important event that has happened in your life? Why is that event important? I want you to talk to your parents about your idea before you write it. They might have some other ideas or could help you remember other events that you forgot.

For this blog I want you to think of something FUN we could do in our classroom. It has to be something that Miss Holly would actually let us do (so there has to be some learning involved). It can be a holiday craft, learning a dance, having someone from the community come in and speak to us, the ideas are endless. If you say we should do a craft or learn a dance, you have to explain the craft or the dance so we know how to do it. Your job is to think of an idea, and then I will try to see if we can make your idea happen!
For this blog I would like you to interview a community worker. Think back to what you said you want to be when you grow up. Do you remember what you want to be? Now ask your parent if they know someone in the community who does that job. See if you can either call or talk to that person face-to-face. If you can't think of someone who does the job you want to do someday, pick another job you are interested in.
Please ask the community worker these questions (feel free to ask your own too): 1. What is the name of your job? 2. What do you do? 3. What is your favorite part of your job? 4. How do you help other people? 5. Did you have to go to college or some other school to do your job? If so, what? 6. What is the craziest thing that has happened at your job? ***Make sure you thank them for the time they spent helping you!*** Write your answers to the questions on the blog. I am VERY excited to read these, and I know you will be excited to share them with the class. You told me about your dad's job, now it's your mom's turn!
Please describe what your mom does. Please do NOT ask her first. Remember, if your mom stays at home to take care of you and your brothers and sisters that is a full time job!! : ) Please type your response. Afterward, have her come and read your response and then have her type a comment of what she does. Would you rather live in a place where it snowed every day for three months or where it was above 90 degrees every day for three months? Explain your answer.
How was your Thanksgiving? (Tell me about it! What did you do? Where did you go? What did you eat? What did you wear? Did you do anything silly? Did anything embarrassing happen? Did you forget anything? What do you want to do next year that you did this year?)
What are the three things you are the most thankful for and why? Think long and hard about this!
In Social Studies we are learning about communities. Part of the community of Carlisle is YOUR family. We will be reading and using your answers during Social Studies on Friday!
Go talk with your family members, ask them what they think makes your family special. Write down what they tell you. Then I want you to also answer this, what do YOU think makes your family special (how is your family different from other families)? Okay class, you can't ask your dad now, but I want you to answer this question from what YOU know.
What does your Dad do at work? After you write your answer, share it with your dad. See if you are right! : ) Ask your dad to write a comment telling what he actually does! I want you to think about this before you respond. What is the hardest thing about being a kid? Why?
